Mehr Videos auf www.sat1regional.de Die Firma „Steinway & Sons“ stellt seit über 150 Jahren Luxus-Flügel in New York und auch in Hamburg her. Es wird nach Patenten gearbeitet wie sie der deutsche Gründervater der Firma entwickelt hat. Die typische Form bekommt der Flügel in der sogenannten Rimbiegerei. Die mehr als 300 Mitarbeiter sind gelernte Tischler. Der Bau eines Instruments nimmt etwa zwölf Monate in Anspruch und kostet bis zu 130.000 Euro. Und egal, ob Rahmen, Unterbau oder Fußteile – in jedem Detail der 12.000 Einzelteile steckt Präzision und überwiegend Handarbeit. Jährlich verlassen 1.200 Instrumente die Produktion in Bahrenfeld. Für Musiker sind diese Instrumente das Nonplusultra. In der Hamburger Laeiszhalle finden regelmäßig Probearbeiten mit Pianisten statt, die den Sound der Steinway-Flügel als vollkommen konkurrenzlos bezeichnen.
