They take a look at the possessive, obsessive, controlling nature of the relationship between the Phantom and Christine, and how the Phantom takes advantage of her grief and her naivety. Then they contrast that with Christine's relationship with Raoul, and how that one doesn't start in the best place (Raoul doesn't really listen to her at first...) but grows into a healthier relationship about sharing a life together.
