Video Description
A typical quota quickie from 1936, "Murder by Rope" had an early role for 33 year old Wilfrid Hyde White, busy investigating the possible miscarriage of justice of "the laughing murderer". There's plenty of talk and not much action, but the direction by veteran George Pearson is a cut above the average, and the whole production has a certain period charm. The film was transmitted in the UK on C4 in 1992, but since then has been unseen on UK tv, and has not been made available in any format for purchase. Technical note: The first 8 minutes of the film has some slight picture disturbance due to an imperfection in the VHS tape. This is only slight and shouldn't affect the viewing experience significantly.
