The Minister of Information revealed new counter-terrorism statistics, including the killing of 13,543 terrorists and criminals and the rescue of nearly 10,000 hostages between May 2023 and February 2025. ​In a separate security-related development, a video showing controversial cleric Sheikh Ahmad Abubakar Gumi proudly decorating his son, Abdulrahaman Ahmad, as a 2nd Lieutenant from the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has circulated on social media. ​ In Edo State, the PDP Executive Committee has publicly challenged Governor Monday Okpebholo to clarify his recent announcement of a $250 million investment agreement signed with the European African Chamber of Commerce during a summit in Glasgow, Scotland, describing the claim as an "embarrassment" to the people of Edo. In Benin, ​activist Precious Oruche, also known as Mama Pee as a figure in the Obidient movement, was briefly detained after a viral confrontation with the factional National Chairman of the Labour Party, Julius Abure, at the Nnamdi Azikiwe airport in Abuja. The Abure-led faction has since demanded Oruche's arrest, escalating political infighting. Meanwhile, the factional Labour Party National Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, issued a statement demanding Mama Pee’s arrest and for Peter Obi to be placed on a national security watch list.
