🍞 No Yeast Soda Bread Recipe - There are a lot of people in April 2020 that want to bake bread, but can't source yeast. Even flour has been tough to find. So we've updated one our earlier Irish Soda Bread Recipes, simplified the ingredients, and came up with this Noe Yeast Soda Bread Recipe. Ingredients: 620g (4¼ cups) all-purpose flour 45 mL (3 Tbsp) granulated sugar 6 mL (1¼ tsp) baking soda 5 mL (1 tsp) coarse salt 85g butter, cold and cubed 425 mL (1¾ cups) buttermilk 1 egg Method: Preheat oven to 200ºC (400°F). 'Cut' or 'Rub' the butter into the flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt. You can do this by hand or in a food processor. Whisk the buttermilk and egg together. Combine the buttermilk and flour mixtures in a big bowl. Stir the dough together until it is too stiff to stir. Tun the dough out onto a lightly floured surface. Knead the dough for about 2-3 minutes; if the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour. Transfer the dough to a greased loaf pan. Score the top. Bake until golden brown and a cake tester comes out clean, about 45 minutes.
