This eel inhabits submarine coral reefs and rocky caves from 5 to 30 meters. It can be caught by trolling, and Omani moray eels are so abundant that they are hooked at will, but they are on the small side not exceeding 1 meter in size. I found my Omani seafaring friend OK to dive together to look for giant moray eels, using lobster and octopus as bait, and finally found a giant moray eel after 3 hours of searching and more than 20 underwater caves.
