Video Description
Painting Flora with David Dunlop - Luminous Flowers in Red. Created and produced by the Emmy® award winning team of acclaimed artist and teacher David Dunlop and director/producer Connie Simmons. In this program, Painting Flora - Luminous Flowers in Red, join David for an informative and inspiring workshop in oil as he experiments with new methods to reinvent floral painting. Flowers have been a subject of fascination for artists for centuries, and in this program David experiments with new methods to reinvent and expand the genre of painting flora. Artists today have a new and vast menu of possibilities - using the tools of cameras and digital images, allowing close-ups and diffraction distortions, captures of blurred motion, software manipulations and other mutations. Using the latest tools and techniques as well as drawing inspiration from the great masters of the past, David finds new and innovative ways to capture the beauty of nature and creates a stunning new composition inspired by red-toned flowers from the New York Botanical Garden. In his exuberant and lyrical oil painting, David explores color, movement, and texture and discusses each step of his painting process. His infectious enthusiasm and multi-disciplinary perspective combining art, history, philosophy, science and technique will provide a unique workshop experience for you - and offer you new ideas and compositions for your paintings!
