It all started with my massive frustration with the lack of good-tasting fruit in grocery stores. Why put up with bland berries when you can just grow them yourself? I live and garden in humid, subtropical east Texas in hardiness zone 8b. So not only do I have extreme summer heat, humidity, and disease pressure, but we also get a few hard freezes every winter in the single digits or low teens.
