Putting together my Harley Benton Single Cut DIY Guitar kit from Thomann !! How to - ITS EPIC !! 😀😀

Here we go!! I’m so chuffed with how epic this has turned out! x This is quite a long video, but we go through, step by step, how to put together and build the Harley Benton single cut (Epifone/Gibson Les Paul style) guitar kit! We put the electrics in (pickups, switches, volume and tone knobs and the earthing wire) all connected to the shielding we did. We fit the machine heads to the headstock and mount the neck on the guitar before fitting all the knobs and scratch plate, before finally fitting the tune-o-matic bridge and putting the strings on! There were a few sharp edges on some of the frets, so we also gave the frets a bit of a file, polish and oil with fretboard lemon oil. It didn’t need too much of a setup which was good, but we will have another look at the truss rod adjustment, string height and saddle positions, once I’ve played it for a bit and it’s all settled down. The sting height at the nut is a little high but not too bad so we left that alone too. In my other videos we painted it, put the custom headstock decals on and shielded the electrics 💪🏻 It’s been good fun building this guitar and I’m really pleased with it ! It played really nice and sounds great 👍🏻 I’ll do another video giving it a proper play so you can hear what it truly sounds like 😀 Just to recap on what we used for each step, as covered in my other videos: The guitar is a Harley Benton single-cut kit from Thomann. I did an unboxing video if you want to see everything that it came with :) I also bought some extra bits and bobs to personalise it, including skull volume and tone knobs, black scratch plate, switch cover and black covers for the electrics and pickup surrounds. We got these from Amazon and eBay. Some of these bits were branded ‘Musicliliy’ incase you’re interested! Painting: We used Rustoleum spray cans for the finish, and I went for a silver sparkly finish, it was a lot of fun :) The paints that we used were all rust-oleum (rustoleum) spray / rattle cans: White surface primer (superior adhesion) Metallic silver (elegant finish) Glitter (sparkling finish) Painters Touch, multi-purpose finish - black Crystal clear - protective coat We used some very fine (400 grit) sandpaper to prepare the surface for painting, that we bough from Amazon. Headstock decals/stickers: We bought these custom stickers from eBay, and they are great! Exactly what we wanted for this custom guitar build :) This is the first time we’d done anything like this, so did that video as a bit of a how to / instruction video of how we went about it :) Shielding the electronics: We shielded all the cavities in the guitar with copper tape, to protect the electrics (the pots, switches and pickups) from radio and EMI (electro magnetic) interference :) We used copper tape, rather than tin foil or the paint that you can get, as it's supposed to give better results?!
