I've picked up this Racal signal generator from eBay but it's got some issues! Apparently, the last buyer returned it faulty but one previous owner has left us some clues inside as to what might be wrong. I think it's the tip of the iceberg but the first thing to do is see if it will even power up. It's going to need replacement capacitors as it's full of tantalums, some of which are failing or already failed! Is there a problem with a voltage regulator or is it the frequency standard that is causing the problems? Let's take a closer look!
