This emotional yet heart-warming documentary series features a group of young recruits as they are put through an intense 10-week training course. This diverse group of young men and women, with their sights set on a navy career, are pushed to the limit as they attempt to join this top establishment. Through a combination of fixed rig cameras and crews, the series captures their experiences and the gruelling process they endure to in order to survive and pass as fully qualified ship mates. In the second episode, Recruit Dackombe has always wanted to join the Royal Navy, but two weeks before he was due to attend its basic training facility HMS Raleigh in Torpoint, Cornwall, he found out that his girlfriend was pregnant with their first child. He must decide whether to give up his childhood dream or stay in the Navy and commit to long stretches at sea away from his family. Plus, when juvenile pranks get out of hand, the rookies face disciplinary procedures and must fight to save their careers.
