This is Trilogy Media, and you’re watching SCAMMED! The Refund scam. It starts with a phone call from a company claiming to owe you money for your expired computer security services. They remote connect to your computer to process your fake refund, and then manipulate your online banking to make the victim THINK they’ve been refunded - but “accidentally“ at a much higher amount. This time, $5,000. They then convince the victim that they have to send back the money urgently or they’re going to lose their job. This scammer wants the payment, in cash, mailed to a home address in beautiful Dana Point California. While our brother Pierogi from Scammer Payback was in town streaming from Trilogy Media headquarters, he baited the scammer all the way up to the finish line, and set us up for one of our most intense busts yet. All that’s left to do now is mail a package, with no money of course, and supply the scammer with a tracking number, so they think they’re in for a big payday, and show up in person to see who is there to receive it.
