Har Har Mahadev! _____________________________________________ 🙏 श्रीरुद्राष्टकम् । Shri Rudrashtakam by Tulsidas _____________________________________________ १.नमामीशमीशान निर्वाणरूपं विभुं व्यापकं ब्रह्मवेदस्वरूपम् । I bow to Lord Shiva, the Supreme Being, whose form is of liberation, who is all-pervading, and the embodiment of the Vedas. निजं निर्गुणं निर्विकल्पं निरीहं चिदाकाशमाकाशवासं भजेऽहम् ॥१॥ He is self-existent, without qualities, beyond thoughts and desires — the pure sky of consciousness in which all exists. २.निराकारमोंकारमूलं तुरीयं गिरा ज्ञान गोतीतमीशं गिरीशम् । He is formless, the source of Om, the transcendent fourth state beyond speech and knowledge, the Lord of the Himalayas. करालं महाकाल कालं कृपालं गुणागार संसारपारं नतोऽहम् ॥२॥ Terrible as Mahakal, Time itself, yet merciful and full of virtues — I bow to Him who helps one cross the ocean of existence. ३.तुषाराद्रिसंकाशगौरं गभीरं मनोभूतकोटिप्रभाश्रीशरीरम् । Fair as snow-clad mountains, profound in presence, with a body shining brighter than millions of minds. स्फुरन्मौलिकल्लोलिनीचारुगङ्गा लसद्भालबालेन्दु कण्ठे भुजङ्गा ॥३॥ Waves of the beautiful Ganga sparkle in His matted locks, the moon glows on His forehead, and serpents coil around His neck. ४.चलत्कुण्डलं भ्रूसुनेत्रं विशालं प्रसन्नाननं नीलकण्ठं दयालम् । With swinging earrings, broad brows and eyes, a calm face, and the compassionate blue-throated One. मृगाधीशचर्माम्बरं मुण्डमालं प्रियं शङ्करं सर्वनाथं भजामि ॥४॥ Clad in tiger skin, wearing a garland of skulls — I worship Shankara, beloved Lord of all. ५.प्रचण्डं प्रकृष्टं प्रगल्भं परेशं अखण्डम् अजं भानुकोटिप्रकाशम् । Fierce, supreme, bold, and divine, indivisible and unborn, shining like millions of suns. त्रयःशूलनिर्मूलनं शूलपाणिं भजेऽहं भवानीपतिं भावगम्यम् ॥५॥I worship the trident-wielding Lord, the consort of Bhavani, destroyer of suffering, knowable only through devotion. ६.कलातीतकल्याण कल्पान्तकारी सदा सज्जनानन्ददाता पुरारी । Beyond time, source of all auspiciousness, destroyer of cosmic dissolution, eternal giver of bliss to the virtuous. चिदानन्दसंदोह मोहापहारी प्रसीद प्रसीद प्रभो मन्मथारी ॥६॥ O ocean of consciousness and bliss, remover of delusion, destroyer of desire — be pleased, O Lord. ७.न यावद् उमानाथपादारविन्दं भजन्तीह लोके परे वा नराणाम् । Until one worships the lotus feet of Uma’s consort, be it in this world or beyond— न तावत्सुखं शान्ति सन्तापनाशं प्रसीद प्रभो सर्वभूताधिवासं ॥७॥ There is no peace, no relief from suffering. Be gracious, O Lord who dwells in all beings. ८.न जानामि योगं जपं नैव पूजां नतोऽहं सदा सर्वदा शम्भुतुभ्यम् । I know not yoga, chanting, or rituals. I simply bow to You always, O Shambhu. जराजन्मदुःखौघ तातप्यमानं प्रभो पाहि आपन्नमामीश शम्भो ॥८॥ Afflicted by the heat of suffering from old age and birth, O Lord, protect me!
