There is this area in Chennai with a massive temple called Kapaleeshwarar Temple. I decided to do an impromptu breakfast food tour as it seemed to be loaded with must eat spots. We started at a place I will call the "Blue Window" because that's all it really is. A hole in the wall place, all you can do here is look for the crowd surrounded around the window. I got the specialty here the pongal with a vada as well. What really does it for me here though is the choice of green and red chutney!!! I don't know which I liked best, but I knew I needed both of them. Next up a little walk in the market to finally grab some fruit. The lady was so nice who was selling bananas as she let me have a free banana when I bought my expensive red bananas. I can't tell you all how good these are, creamy, sweet, and nice and floral. Then I went and got some good ole mangoes, if you want to see me eat the mangoes, then you will have to head over to my youtube. Now, it seems like the two drinks of choice in Chennai are coffee and rose milk. Now we don't have rose milk in the USA, but this made me wish we did. It's not too sweet, fatty, and the perfect touch of floral flavor from the rose. I don't usually like rose water so I was surprised how much rose milk I liked. Final stop for the day, I didn't know how to read anything here and I wasn't even sure if it was a restaurant, but after confirmation, I was good to go! Not really any English in here so I just ordered the things I knew about which was a vada, ghee dosa, and coffee. The chutneys, sambar, and eating on the banana leaf was a real experience and of course I couldn't not have a coffee to finish it off.
