Kampaniens Zentrum ist Neapel am gleichnamigen Golf, überragt vom Vesuv, dessen Ausbruch die römischen Siedlungen Pompeji und Herculaneum verschüttete. Vorgelagert: Die Inseln Ischia und Capri. Weiter die Amalfi-Traumküste, Paestum und der Nationalpark Cilento. In Kalabrien geht es über Tropea und Capo Vaticano, Szilla zur Stretto di Messina. Apulien glänzt mit Gallipoli im Golf von Taranto, der Barockperle Lecce, den Trulis von Alberobello und dem achteckigen Castel del Monte.
