Video Description

On the Congo River, a perilous journey unfolds. At the helm of a giant raft, as large as a football field, Captain Aimé and his crew attempt to transport 220 tree trunks across hundreds of kilometers, from Kisangani to Kinshasa. Bound together by simple cables, these logs form a fragile yet essential vessel for the local economy. Onboard, danger is constant: injuries, sudden storms, treacherous sandbanks… Yet, this raft is also a last hope for the poorest travelers, who use it to reach the capital, lacking the means for any other passage. On land, the struggle is no less harsh. With no real public transport, travelers cram into overloaded freight trucks, enduring broken roads and extreme conditions. A grueling odyssey, reflecting the daily hardships along Africa’s greatest river. Director : Antoine BODDAERT; Guillaume LHOTELLIER
