They stretch across continents — Odessa, Trieste, Hamburg, Buenos Aires — identical measurements, identical angles, identical silence in the archives. They told us these were "decorative promenades." Public walkways. Pretty architecture. But the stairs are too wide for walking. The platforms are calibrated to a sea level from four hundred years ago. The grooves are designed for rotation — not mooring. And the blueprints? They reference engineering techniques that weren't "invented" for another fifty years. Then there's the photographs. Early prints show shadows at the water's edge. Shapes. Structures. In later copies — gone. Brush strokes painted over the past. Someone satisfait retouched history itself. Workers described ships with no sails. No steam. Decks that hummed. Cargo that rose without rope. They were paid double. Told never to speak of it. Their diaries survived anyway.
