Le 16 février 1965, Malcolm X, de son vrai nom Malcolm Little, est abattu de 16 balles à l’âge de 39 ans. Militant pour un état noir indépendant, il avait redonné leur dignité aux Noirs américains dans une Amérique ségrégationniste. Près d’un demi-siècle après sa mort, la question demeure : qui a tué Malcolm X ? Les tireurs étaient des membres de la "Nation of Islam", dont il fut un influent membre, mais les commanditaires restent inconnus. Ce meurtre arrangeait certains dirigeants de l’époque. Malcolm X s'était rapproché de Martin Luther King et de dirigeants africains critiquant la politique américaine. Y avait-il un plan d'État pour éliminer certains leaders noirs ?
