Spoiler: none of them were actually cheap. The price range started at £300,000 and stretched up to £2.2 million —and I was only looking at houses, not flats. Coming from the North, where £500,000 can buy you a full-on mansion, it was wild to see what that same budget gets you in London. I also ruled out any leasehold properties during my search. I managed to get four viewings across different locations, mostly in the east. The contrast was staggering: in the west, the average house price is now over £1,000,000, while in the east it’s around £750,000. Still mind-blowing.
