Britain's wartime rush for a submachine gun went down several dead ends before settling on the Sten Gun. One such avenue was the Veselý. This example, the rarer paratrooper variant (Veselý 43) was deemed to complex and expensive for mass production. It does feature an ingenious 'double-stack' magazine system that intrigued the War Office so much that the weapon continued to be looked at until it was finally killed-off by the Sterling SMG.
