At 10:00 AM, Private Augustin Trébuchon of the 415th Infantry Regiment was given a mission: to deliver the armistice message to the enemy. But just five minutes before the ceasefire took effect, a bullet struck him down, making him the last French soldier killed in World War I. Yet, in official records, his death never happened. The regiment reported no casualties that day, as if his final sacrifice had been erased from history. His death, on the threshold of peace, stands as a haunting symbol of the senselessness of war.
