In January 1889 the bodies of Crown Prince Rudolf and Baroness Mary Vetsera were discovered in a bed together. The Mayerling Incident - named after the hunting lodge where the tragedy took place, shook the Habsburg monarchy. The attempt to cover up the events allowed disinformation to spread, meaning that for sometime it was difficult for historians to uncover the truth of how. The Mayerling Incident is unfolded through a web of characters, the exploration of which will bring to light how this tragedy unfolded. This video is an attempt to recreate the events on a day to day basis leading up to the tragedy - providing historical and personal context when possible.
