THIS is the DARKEST Scene in The Godfather Trilogy. THIS Senator INSULTED the Godfather & his family... Find out how had to pay the price 𦮠THIS is the most ruthless play we ever see in The Godfather Trilogy! Beneath the surface The Godfather 2 was trying to warn you of something that is playing out right now. Senator Patrick "Pat" Geary is a minor antagonist turned supporting character in the 1974 film The Godfather Part II. He is a senator from Nevada, who was involved with the Corleone Family. He was portrayed by the late G. D. Spradlin, who also portrayed Cyrus Buelton in Tank. Michaelās vision ā the one he set out with his father, the Don ā is in full effect. The Corleone family is no longer just an East Coast crime syndicate; they are transforming into a national empire. Their power has shifted west, and the new battlefield is Las Vegas. By now, the Corleones own two of the biggest and most profitable casinos in the city. Their influence stretches beyond the gaming tables ā into hotels, unions, and state politics. But for Michael, this was only the beginning. He wasnāt content with simply owning casinos. He wanted legitimacy, power that could stand alongside the Rockefellers and the Kennedys. And Las Vegas was the foundation of that ambition already owned two of the biggest and most profitable casinos in Las Vegas, but Michaelās ambitions stretched further. Michael wanted more than just two casinos. And so looking for the next jewel in his empire His sights were fixed on the Tropicana ā one of the flashiest, most profitable properties on the Strip. On paper, the license was held by Meyer Klingman, a front man who managed the hotel for outside interests. In reality, Klingman was just a placeholder, a weak link waiting to be pushed aside. Michaelās plan was simple: remove Klingman, secure the license, and bring the Tropicana fully under Corleone control. This wasnāt just another business move ā it was the next step in his grand design. Owning the Tropicana would tighten the familyās grip on Las Vegas, expand their empire into the very heart of Nevada, and cement their reputation as legitimate power players in Americaās new gambling capital. But to make it happen, Michael needed more than muscle. He needed the blessing of the state. And that meant dealing with Nevadaās senior Senator, Patrick Geary. What we donāt get to see in the film, was Michael being briefed by Hagen before taking this meeting. This is important because it explains why Michael gives Hagen that look during the meeting. Hagen explains he cleared things with Gearyās close aide, Turnbull, who owes the Corleones a $100k gambling debt, making his information reliable.
