Driving at 5,100 meters in the Andes of Peru - higher than we’ve ever been before. Starting near Cusco, this journey takes us deep into the mountains, along remote high-altitude roads surrounded by glaciers, endless herds of alpacas and landscapes that almost don’t feel real. But this route also brings a challenge. Part of the road turns out to be no longer suitable for large vehicles, and our overland truck is anything but small. Along the way we explore the historic city of Cusco, visit an incredible ancient Inca rope bridge that is still rebuilt by hand every year, and prepare for one of the highest drives of our entire journey. The road eventually takes us to an altitude of over 5,100 meters, high in the Andes. A place where the air gets thin, the landscapes become surreal, and every kilometer feels like an adventure. 🗺️ This Season In Season 5, we’re overlanding through South America — crossing borders, mountain ranges, rainforests, and everything in between. We travel slowly, focusing on the journey rather than the highlights. 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 Who We Are We’re a Dutch family who chose a different path: more time together, less stress. Since spring 2021, we’ve been living full-time in our expedition truck, traveling overland and learning as a family along the way. In June 2022, we shipped our vehicle from Europe to Canada and began our Pan-American overland journey.
