Instead of doing the tarokka reading random (the RAW - rules as written - way) or stacking/rigging it (which a lot of DMs do instead), this supplement offers an in-between solution... Firstly, it suggests which of the potential 'problem' cards to remove, and from there it'll help you to split the remaining cards into three smaller piles: one for the Tome, one for the Symbol, and one for the Sunsword. The cards in the three piles are split in a way that tries to ensure that the Tome ends up in an early-to-mid-game location, that the Symbol appears in a mid-game location, and that the Sunsword appears in a late game/endgame location. I think it works well as an in-between for doing the draw randomly/RAW and stacking/rigging the deck. You still have that element of randomness (as the campaign intends), but in a much more controlled, less risky, more narratively-satisfying way. It also removes the risk of two or three of the items all ending up in the same location, with almost guaranteed certainty that all three items will end up in three different locations around Barovia (I say "almost" because there's a small chance that the Tome and Sunsword both end up Vallaki, but the latter is only offered if the PCs complete the Amber Temple). There's also hooks for every post-Vallaki location, most of which are RAW (from the campaign book), so if you really wanted to usher your players to a particular location - e.g. Argynvostholt - but you don't get it in the draw (but you would've done if you'd rigged/stacked it), then there are suggestions on how else the PCs can be introduced to that location instead.
