Video Description
Australia’s new vehicle emissions standards are coming for Isuzu’s heavy-emitting range with big fines set to rack up quickly for every vehicle sold. To combat this, Isuzu has replaced the 1.9L turbo-diesel engine with a more fuel-efficient and powerful 2.2L unit mated with an eight-speed automatic transmission. Along with cheaper running costs, the 2.2L raises the towing capacity from 3000kg in the 1.9L to a full-fat 3500kg limit, matching the capacity of the 3.0L Aussies love. So will the new engine save Isuzu from emissions fines and is it good enough for Aussies to even consider? We test drive the D-Max and MU-X with this new motor to find out.
