Wilderness navigation is one of the most basic survival skills. But what if you find yourself lost in the wilderness without a compass, gps, or smartphone? How do you find north and navigate to safety? In this bushcraft hacks video I'll go over five methods to find north without a modern compass. I'll start by showing how to find the north star and use sticks and the sun to find true north. Then we'll learn how to make a compass with a needle and magnet. Since most people aren't in the habit of walking around with a needle, I'll show how to turn your knife into a compass as well. And finally, we'll use a few common items from our pack to make an electromagnetic compass to find magnetic north.
