Vintage story is a truly interesting game. The most popular Minecraft modpacks, like RLcraft, struggle to maintain cohesion amongst droves of compiled modpacks from different independent developers. These modpacks get so vast that there's just no efficient way to make all of the mods mesh well together. Vintage story doesn't have this issue, because vintage story isn't a modded game. It's completely vanilla - the creator of Vintage Story was more inspired by Minecraft, than anything, and created his own interpretation of it. Because Vintage Story is it's own game, core mechanics like crafting, respawning, eating, combat, etc, were all built from the ground up, leading to a game that has surprisingly little in common with Minecraft. I was expecting a more sophisticated version of a well made Minecraft modpack, but ended up playing a really unique game. It's the only "Minecraft-knock-off" game I've played that I think copies the Minecraft voxel map formula RIGHT - Vintage Story doesn't try to too hard to be Minecraft. It doesn't try at all, in fact. It feels like a distant cousin of a game. Looks similar enough on the outside, but really not a whole lot in common with the original. Lots of fun IRL vlog content coming soon!
