Description

Ground Control Robotics has developed centipede-inspired robots for agricultural automation in challenging terrain. Founded by Georgia Tech researcher Dan Goldman, the startup created multi-legged robots that use a fluid-like "swimming" motion to navigate cluttered environments like blueberry patches and vineyards on steep slopes. Unlike traditional farming robots designed for neat rows, these mechanical arthropods work in complex terrain where weed control can cost farmers up to $1,000 per acre. Priced in the thousand-dollar range, the robots rely on mechanical intelligence rather than sophisticated sensors, operating 24/7 for scouting and eventually weed removal. The company is currently conducting pilot tests with Georgia farmers.
