UK startup Humanoid has unveiled the HMND 01 Alpha Bipedal, a humanoid robot that achieved stable walking just 48 hours after assembly. The company built the prototype in five months, compared to the industry average of 18-24 months. Using NVIDIA's simulation tools, engineers compressed 19 months of locomotion training into two days by running 52.5 million seconds of virtual reinforcement learning. Standing 5'10" with 29 degrees of freedom, Alpha can walk, hop, sidestep, and recover from pushes while carrying 33 pounds. The company has secured 19,500 pre-orders and targets both industrial automation and domestic assistance applications.
