On this episode of the AUDACITY, I crash out a little (albeit I'm too calm for a crash out) and talk about how these thrift stores need to be HUMBLED because they are charging consignment prices for stuff they get for FREE. It's something we really need to address, and CONFRONT. It might be hard, but we may have to start shifting out shopping habits and only shop at thrift stores that charge fair prices. Even those that can afford the up-charge: do it for those who CAN'T. Its the only way if we want them to CALM THE F DOWN and go back to charity shop pricing.... I shoulda mentioned it. But I get emotional thinking about my old favorite thrift store, Thrift Town in Fair Oaks (it's now a Goodwill...). I found some amazing quality pieces for $1.50, pretty often. The most I ever spent was $20 on a coat (I still have it 13 years later) but it was the most gorgeous burgundy wool frock coat with silk lining and a lace crochet collar. Actually, it's better I didn't mention it, because I probably would have cried. They closed in 2020 for the panorama and never opened up again... They were single handedly responsible for me embracing my love for fashion and experimenting with it in an affordable way. Without them, this channel probably wouldn't exist. They are why I love vintage and thrifting.
