I rode my motorcycle into one of the most dangerous, unpredictable situations of my entire cross-country journey — a lightning, hail, and snowstorm on Pikes Peak. In this episode of The Final 48, what starts as a casual ride through Colorado turns into an all-out test of judgment, weather, and survival. Riding two fully-loaded Harley-Davidson baggers above 14,000 feet, we face sudden elevation sickness, road closures, lightning strikes above tree line, and a storm that never showed up on radar. This was supposed to be a simple bucket-list ride. Instead, it became one of the scariest moments I’ve ever experienced on a motorcycle. For the first time on this trip, I’m not riding alone. Jess from @bikesandbalayage joins me as we ride Monarch Pass, explore Cripple Creek, camp at the highest-elevation KOA in the world, and attempt to summit Pikes Peak by motorcycle — right as the mountain decides to make its own rules.
