“Treated her like an animal”: Activists say Greta Thunberg mistreated in Israeli detention

Activists who were detained by Israel after taking part in a Gaza aid flotilla say Greta Thunberg was mistreated while in custody. The two activists who made the claim said they witnessed Thunberg being “dragged” and shoved and draped in an Israeli flag. “They draped her in an Israeli flag and they just pushed and pulled her wherever they wanted and for whatever propaganda they wanted,” said Windfield Beaver, a U.S. activist. He said Thunberg was treated “like a piece of trash.” Some 137 activists arrived in Istanbul on Saturday after being arrested and detained. Israel has faced international condemnation after its military intercepted all of approximately 40 boats in the flotilla, which was carrying aid to Gaza. A total of 450 activists were detained.
