On September 11, 2001, Gordon Huie faced unimaginable terror as a triple survivor of the attacks on the World Trade Center. Huie, who rescued dozens, lost a family member, and survived the attacks himself, shared his experience. "When the towers came down, it had a kill radius of four blocks," Huie said, recalling the devastation. As a surgeon, he sprang into action despite the overwhelming scene. "I had two bandaids in my wallet, and you look at all these body parts and realize two bandaids can’t do anything. I figured the best thing I could do is get to the nearest operating room." Huie made his way to Beekman Hospital, where he was trusted to assist despite not having privileges there.
