The AVC sits down with two of the world's most elite warriors to discuss their journey into Naval Special Warfare. Edward C. Byers Jr. is a retired United States Navy SEAL who received the Medal of Honor on February 29, 2016, for the rescue of a civilian in Afghanistan in 2012. Byers retired after 21 years of service on September 19, 2019. Drago Dzieran was assigned to SEAL Team 2, SEAL Team 4, and Naval Special Warfare (NSWC) as a BUD/S instructor in Coronado, California. He performed over one hundred combat direct action missions as an NSW Lead Breacher while deployed to Iraq in 2003, 2004, and 2005, where he developed new breaching methods and a specialized breaching charge that minimized fragmentation and reduced potential injuries to non-combatants on target.
