For over 20 years, I've been living off-grid, powered by a DIY micro hydro generator built from a repurposed smart-drive washing machine . This channel started as a way to share that project and demonstrate how easy it can be to live sustainably. Over time, my focus expanded to include sustainably harvesting timber for firewood and building materials. To make that work easier, I began acquiring and restoring vintage machinery – on a shoestring budget. After 30 years of faithful service, my old 90hp 2-stroke outboard had to go. In this video, I replace it with a brand new 60hp Parsun 4-stroke outboard and take you through the full process — from mounting and rigging to throttle and wiring setup. Then we hit the water for a proper sea trial to see how it performs. The new motor is quieter, more reliable, and uses half the fuel. A big upgrade for my fibreglass hull!
