About

Welcome to a channel dedicated to cinematic short films (mostly) about photography, personal growth, mental health, solitude, and transformation. I'm Gerald – a Swiss filmmaker and visual storyteller exploring the power of silence, the beauty of vulnerability, and the journey of becoming. Each film is a raw, honest look at what it means to be human. If you're into poetic voice-overs, real emotions, and minimalist visuals – you're in the right place. New videos whenever inspiration strikes.

Video Description

First of all: NO, this video is NOT about film vs. digital. It's all about mindset and how you approach photography in general. It doesn't matter if you shoot film or digital. You can shoot digital with film discipline 😉 Oh and: Yes, film could do bursts. If you slapped a motor drive on it, like the pros did back in the day. But come on… comparing that to hobby shooting today? Those guys were GETTING PAID to burn through rolls. That’s like comparing a Formula 1 pit stop to someone filling up their 2003 Toyota Corolla. Not exactly the same thing. 😉 Please WATCH TO THE END ✌🏻 --------------------------------------------------- prints: https://geraldjoehri.darkroom.com/ --------------------------------------------------- For decades, photography evolved toward perfection — more megapixels, faster autofocus, flawless AI corrections. But in chasing technical perfection, we lost something deeper: intentionality, presence, anticipation, imperfection, and mindfulness. In this cinematic short film, I explore what we "gave up" when cameras got “better.” From 36 precious exposures on a roll of Fomapan 400 to 8,000 forgettable smartphone shots, this is a story about how limitations once made us better photographers — and better humans. 📸 Featuring vintage cameras, this video isn’t nostalgia. It’s a reminder that meaning in photography doesn’t come from megapixels — it comes from attention. If you’ve ever felt disconnected from your photos, your art, or even yourself… this one’s for you. ✨ Let me know in the comments: What did you lose when cameras got better?
