This 2025 Toyota 4Runner is an SR5 4X4 with a leather seat package and an MSRP of $48,000. The 2026 Honda Passport is the Trailsport trim with an MSRP of $50,000. So around $50k what are you taking? The 2025 4Runner has a body on frame construction and a turbocharged 4 cylinder engine. The 2026 Passport is unibody construction with a V6 engine. I like the new 4Runner exterior style. It's very aggressive and looks really nice with a layerd look. The new Passport is rugged looking too, but a but more simple. The new Honda Passport has a much nicer interior with better use of materials and great looking tech. The SR5 4Runner has a lot of hard plastics and the screens are pretty basic looking. The leather seats make a hug difference tho making the 4Runner not feel as cheap as a cloth interior. 4Runner can also tow 1,000 pounds more and has a low range transfer case. Driving the 2025 4Runner and 2026 Passport back to back you can see a clear difference. The Toyota 4Runner feels more rugged with heavier steering and more of a truck like drive. It also has really good bottom end torque from the turbo engine. The engine sounds very much like a 4 cylinder tho and there is some body roll and brake dive. The Honda Passport noticeably feels more soft on the road and drives more car like. Smooth power with the V6 but you have to use more of the engine to get the same power out of it. Steering is lighter and the interior feels a bit more open and is easier to use. I could see the 2025 Toyota 4Runner and 2026 Honda Passport being complimentary SUV's for families that are adventurous. The new Passport is about as rugged as you can get in what still is a traditional crossover. The 4Runner picks up where the Passport leaves off and is the next step up in rugged and off road focused. So if you want more of a truck like drive and better off road capabilities and towing, go for a 4Runner. You will sacrifice interior materials, tech and easier cargo space function. If you want more on road capabilities with occasional off pavement driving, the Passport will be better. You will sacrifice off road use and towing.
