Video Description
I love to wheel throw big bowls but it's not easy. It takes a lot of clay which is not so easy to center and a wide bowl is a risky shape to make. I admit that at first I failed, as you will see in the video. And I will explain why. But I tried one more time and in the end I succeeded in making the biggest bowl I have ever made - 57 cm wide! UPDATE: See how I trimmed this large bowl here: https://youtu.be/kzoWdaR-3gY INDEX: 00:00 Wheel Throwing a Very Big Bowl 00:22 Using reclaimed clay 01:15 Centering the clay on the pottery wheel 04:15 Adding more clay 06:23 Opening up the clay ball 06:40 Expaning a large clay bowl 09:04 Pulling the walls of the clay ball 13:48 Laying out the walls for the bowl 16:46 You CAN trim the inside of the bowl 17:45 Drying the bowl with a heat gun 18:35 Making the bowl wider 25:40 I failed!
