Video Description
Serving some of Christchurch’s best fish and chips for 37 years, Fresco Fisheries has become a local institution in the heart of Church Corner, Upper Riccarton. We're honoured to share a story that celebrates the journey of migrants who embraced the opportunity to build something of their own—navigating the ubiquitous and highly competitive world of fish and chip shops and Chinese takeaways across New Zealand. Produced proudly in sponsored collaboration with Goodman Fielder, we’re deeply thankful for the chance to spotlight Eamon Joe and his family-run takeaway, Fresco Fisheries. What began as a humble effort to support their young family has become a cornerstone of the local community—where generations have grown up on their golden chips and freshly battered or crumbed fillets, sourced straight from the morning fish auctions. To Eamon Joe, we couldn’t be more grateful. He generously allowed us to spend two days alongside him—showing us where his fish comes from, the early morning grind, and what it truly takes to keep a traditional mum-and-pop shop running today. As Christchurch locals ourselves, we grew up eating Eamon’s fish and chips—so capturing this story on film was deeply personal and incredibly special. When you buy from Goodman Fielder, you’re choosing a trusted range of quality foodservice essentials—delivered nationwide and backed by a team that believes in supporting stories like this one.
