The story follows Navy lawyer Lieutenant Daniel Kaffee, played by Tom Cruise, who is assigned to defend two Marines accused of murdering a fellow Marine at the Guantanamo Bay Naval Base. Initially expecting a simple plea deal, Kaffee uncovers evidence that suggests the men were following orders from higher up the chain of command. As the case unfolds, he is forced to confront his own doubts and take on powerful figures in the military. The film explores themes of duty, honor, accountability, and the moral complexities of military justice. Kaffee is joined by Lieutenant Commander JoAnne Galloway, played by Demi Moore, and Lieutenant Sam Weinberg, played by Kevin Pollak, as they build their defense. Their investigation leads to a dramatic courtroom battle against Colonel Nathan Jessup, portrayed by Jack Nicholson, whose explosive testimony becomes one of the most iconic scenes in film history.
