Back before the bankruptcy, DUIs, poker fights, and (ugh) child abuse, Adrian Peterson was only a monster *on* the field. From his incredible rookie year to his 2011 season, All Day was unstoppable. But then came week 16 at Washington, where a safety knifed through the formation and ripped up Adrian's knee. For a player who relied on cuts and speed and power more than any RB we'd seen, some thought AD might never be the same. AP knew different. Adrian Peterson vowed to be back and ready to play by week one 2012. "D'okay, Adrian, whatever you say," we all thought, secretly hoping we were wrong, but expecting to be right. BUT THERE HE WAS week one. After an offseason of rehab hype videos, AP was in the backfield against the Jags. He scored two short TDs in that first game, but his season started slowly. He only eclipsed 100 yards in one game during the first 6 weeks. But over his last 10 games, AP averaged 159.8 yards per game, and entered week 17 against the Green Bay Packers needing 208 yards to pass Eric Dickerson's single-season rushing record. AP got 199, and almost had OT to get his last nine yards, but rookie Blair Walsh hit his last-second FG and sent the Vikings into the playoffs. AP became the 7th RB to rush for 2,000 yards in a season, and settled in one spot behind Dickerson all-time. His improbable season earned AP the MVP, Offensive Player of the Year, and Comeback Player of the Year honors, in addition to a Pro Bowl nod and First Team All-Pro honors. AP has done a lot to tarnish his legacy in the past ten years, but we'll always have 2012. What a freaking show. #Skol #Vikings
