Season 2 of ART ISLAND opens with legendary Susan Crowe in her studio, Cannon Road Pottery. Filmmaker Zsofin Sheehy follows Susan through her home and 40-year pottery practice on Hornby Island. A self-professed "compulsive maker," Susan shares her process as a producer, how she motivates herself and keeps herself open to new ideas, techniques, and products. Above all, the life of friendship and family she has built in partnership with her creative practice provides an endless source of love, inspiration, and support. [About Susan Crowe] Susan Crowe was born on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia. She attended St. Lawrence Craft and Design College in Brockville, Ontario from 1977–79, before moving to Vancouver, BC to further teach and practice pottery. In 1981 she moved to Hornby Island to do production for Bernard de Aguiar and SeaPeace Pottery. By 1984, Susan opened Cannon Road Pottery, and has been making work under this studio for the past 40 years. Today, Susan works with her son Silas in wholesale production of her work, though her other two children can throw, as well. She has eight grandchildren.
