What happens to your body, when you stay in ice water for 30 minutes? On August 16, 2019 I gave myself the challenge of doing a 30 minute ice bath as physical and mental preparation for Project Iceman, the first ever long distance triathlon in Antarctica, the Iceman. You can watch Project Iceman here: - The full, immersive theater experience with highest quality & surround on Apple TV: https://tv.apple.com/us/movie/project-iceman/umc.cmc.2j4xoi0qa8bydoyfrl272fr4v - For free on YouTube: https://youtu.be/ROQNfVc4BYI?si=TWFAy0HHnZ5kbXzo In this video you see what happens to your body when you stay in ice water for 30 minutes and how the feeling afterwards is worse as your body temperature continues to drop. In the video I also share my thoughts on: - The fact that doing hard things, never gets easier. - Not listening to your mind. - Putting your expectations high. - That until you do it, you can't really say that you can. - Breaking our own limits and what I tell myself in tough times. - My advice to you on your dreams - My own dream - Why I did this project DISCLAIMER: Please don’t go out and go from zero to 100 - staying as long as possible the first time you go into ice water. We are all different and our bodies react differently. As I mention, and as you will see in this video, when you pass a certain time in ice water, the worst part is actually the feeling afterwards because your body temperature continues to drop. My first time in ice water was 35 seconds. I learned through experience how my body reacts to different ways of staying in ice water for longer periods and I never did it alone. Before this 30 min attempt, I had already tried to be in ice water for 20 min in the same conditions. Three minutes is enough to achieve many of the amazing benefits of ice water. Focus on deep, calm breaths. As when you face any tough challenge in life. 00:00 DISCLAIMER 00:30 It never gets easier 01:01 First thoughts on starting Project Iceman 02:13 "It's tough when you put expectations high" 02:32 "If you haven’t done it yet, you can’t say that you can" 03:43 Proving yourself to yourself 04:31 "Call it off, we’re not doing this today" 05:27 Ask yourself this 06:08 The football dream 06:58 "How long have I been in?"
