CATL JUST Announced 3 of the biggest breakthroughs in the battery world. First is the NAXTRA Sodium Ion Battery, which uses Sodium instead of Lithium, and for good reason. Sodium is 1000x more abundant and diversifying our battery supply chain will be critical as we scale from millions of EVs to hundreds of millions. Second is CATL’s Freevoy Dual Power Battery, which is their architecture to allow different batteries chemistries in one pack. This allows manufacturers to choose complimentary chemistries to get the best of both worlds. Imagine the more affordable, better low temperature performance of a Sodium Ion Battery, combined with the higher energy density of a NCM battery, which is now possible! Lastly, they also unveiled the second generation of their Shenxing super fast charging battery, which will set records with charging speeds up to 12C! That means a 100kWh battery pack could charge at 1.3MW of power, over 4 times faster than cars today.
