For a small subset of entry-level programmer jobs, that's no longer true (at least until the new hire becomes more experienced). It still doesn't have the judgement a programmer needs (or anything close to it), and it can't do the communication parts of the job (and is still awful at writing tests). But it's starting to live up to the capabilities of this form of Machine Learning.
