So many dealers just refuse to stock up on these bare-bones trucks because there isn't enough profit margin to be had. Pretty sad. Points I discuss in this video: These Trucks actually sell… yet dealers REFUSE to get them in stock! - Simple, affordable, reliable trucks have ceased to exist. - Trucks like this sparse-down version Ford Maverick XL is what a lot of people want. - It’s not a wildly exciting vehicle, but it’s simple, utilitarian and affordable. - Buying a new truck, getting the functionality of the truck bed, seating for 5 and a nice manufacturer warranty gives tremendous peace of mind. - This was supposed to be the $20K pickup truck… that didn’t last long. Even priced in the low 30s, they sell like hot cakes. - Some people will claim the Hyundai Santa Cruz is in a similar category given its price tag starting in the high 20s. I personally would lean with the Ford first between the two. - Yet dealers are rarely stocked with these trucks!! Because they don’t make much money!!! - It’s all to do with profits… Brands are putting Revenue over Reputation. - Walk any Ford, Ram, GMC, Chevy dealership lot and guess you’ll see… lines of upon lines of unsold high-trimmed trucks. - In a world full of $70-100K trucks like the Ford F150 Raptor, F150 Platinum, King Ranch, Limited, Ram TRX, Tungsten Edition Ram 1500, Silverado 1500 Ultimate Edition, Denali, High Country, Sierra 1500 AT4, AT4X, Denali Ultimate, Toyota Tundra TRD Pro, Capstone, Platinum, Tacoma TRD Pro, Tacoma Trailhunter, Limited, Ford Ranger Raptor, Tesla Cybertruck, Rivian, etc… list goes on. - Even midsized pickups have gotten priced to the moon. No longer within reach for so many buyers. Ranger Raptor $60K, Tacoma TRD Pro or Trailhunter $67K. Many Jeep Gladiators in the high 50s. - To add insult to injury, most midsize trucks have gone toward turbo 4 cylinder platforms like the GMC Canyon, Chevy Colorado, Toyota Tacoma, etc. - You’re getting a lot less truck for your money now days. - Ram killed off its Ram 1500 Classic trim because the profit margin was too small. Not worth building anymore. - These astronomical prices have existed all while manufacturers outsourced production to cheaper labor countries left and right. - Manufacturers were cashing in on their cheaply built trucks. Greed is alive and well. - I know I probably hype it more than I should… but I feel as though the Nissan Frontier is the last of its kind at this point. - The Frontier and Honda Ridgeline may be the last “tried and true” midsize trucks sporting reliable N.A.
