Video Description

In this video, I step back in time and follow a real World War 1 meal plan for an entire day — breakfast, lunch, and dinner — to see what it was really like to cook and eat before processed food took over our kitchens. These meal plans were designed during wartime rationing to keep families nourished, healthy, and frugal. From simple porridge and stewed prunes to “meatless” dinners and homemade bread, every dish tells a story about how people once lived — and how little they wasted. Cooking from scratch, using whole ingredients, and following this plan made me realize just how different our relationship with food used to be. It was about nourishment, not convenience. If you enjoy old-fashioned living, historical homemaking, or cooking from scratch, I think you’ll love this one. 🍞 Would you like me to try the “poor man’s” WW1 meal plan next? Let me know in the comments! Baked Bananas •6 firm bananas •2 tbsp lemon juice •2 tbsp melted butter •cinnamon (opt.) •1/3c. sugar Preheat oven to 325 degrees F. Peel banas.
