It’s double-trouble on Dish this week, as Nick and Angela greet legendary two-wheel adventurers Ewan McGregor & Charley Boorman! Fresh off the road and the release of their latest installment in the Long Way series, Long Way Home, Ewan and Charley sit down to discuss their cruise through 17 countries on two vintage bikes. The original series, which began in 2004, saw the duo embark on an epic journey from London to New York—casually via Asia—in Long Way Round. Since then (and four series later), the pair have visited over 50 countries, experienced many chance encounters, mind-blowing scenery, and lots of interesting food (more on that later…). The pair first met on a film set in 1997 and have both made their mark on our screens ever since. Ewan McGregor burst onto the scene in 1993 and has featured in unforgettable roles such as Trainspotting, Shallow Grave, Star Wars, Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, and Moulin Rouge!. Charley, on the other hand, is best known for his adventurous TV series like By Any Means, where he traveled from Ireland to Australia using any transport he could find. He’s also taken on the grueling Dakar Rally, one of the world’s toughest and most dangerous motorsport challenges. There’s not a lot of room to spare on this week’s table, with a feast of food and drink to tempt our guests. At Ewan’s request, Angela serves a slice of nostalgia in the form of Melba toast with chicken liver pâté, smoked mackerel pâté and pâté de campagne, before bringing out the haggis bon-bons. Drinks are negronis, tweaked by Charley, who suggests switching the gin for tequila, and a Pentire coastal spritz for Ewan. This is followed by an epic tomahawk steak with spicy dipping sauce and fries, paired with a glass of Journey's End Sir Lowry Cabernet Sauvignon. After arriving on motorbikes (a Dish first), Charley and Ewan cover everything from boiled egg banter to bagpipes and classic Mongolian hospitality. Charley gets starry-eyed when sharing one of his favourite recipes, and Ewan reminisces on quite the unforgettable meeting with Delia Smith. You can watch Long Way Home on Apple TV+ now.
