Fixing My Portable Mega Drive - Fitting a Dual Frequency Oscillator (DFO) from Consoles Unleashed

In this Fix It Friday video, I finally track down and fix an issue with my portable Sega Mega Drive build. If you remember from a previous video, the console worked perfectly in PAL mode but refused to display a stable picture when switched into NTSC. After leaving it open to suggestions in the comments, many of you correctly pointed out the missing piece of the puzzle — a dual frequency oscillator. In this video, I revisit the Consoles Unleashed region mod that was originally fitted without a DFO due to stock availability at the time. I explain why the oscillator is critical for proper 60 Hz NTSC output, particularly when using modern screens with tighter sync tolerances. We strip the Mega Drive down, remove the original crystal oscillator, and install the Consoles Unleashed dual frequency oscillator board. I also test the results using an OSSC to compare video frequencies before and after the mod, before finally confirming the fix on the portable screen itself.
